Mitsubishi MDS-D2-CV-185 CNC Power Supply Unit

The Mitsubishi MDS-D2-CV-185 is a 200V-series CNC power supply unit for MDS-D2 servo and spindle drive systems. Its power-regenerative converter supplies the DC bus used by connected drives and returns regenerative energy during motor deceleration. Official ratings include 18.5 kW for 30 minutes, 15 kW continuous output, 65 A input and 76 A DC output.

The MDS-D2-CV-185 supplies a stable common DC bus to compatible MDS-D2 servo and spindle drive units. During deceleration, its regeneration circuit returns motor-generated energy to the incoming power system. It supports stable multi-axis and spindle operation in CNC lathes, machining centers and industrial machine tools.

System Compatibility and Capacity Selection

Match the complete model MDS-D2-CV-185 and the original machine configuration. It belongs to the 200V MDS-D2 system; MDS-DH2-CV-185 is a 400V-series unit and is not a direct substitute. Selection must consider the connected drives, combined continuous output, maximum momentary output, facility capacity and AC reactor. Mitsubishi specifies D-AL-18.5K for this model, and the machine builder's electrical documentation takes precedence.

Testing, Installation and Protective Packing

Each unit is checked for model identity, terminals, capacitors, cooling fan, DC bus stability, READY/alarm operation and regenerative performance on a compatible test platform. Installation must be performed by qualified personnel. After power-off, wait at least 15 minutes, confirm the CHARGE lamp is off and measure P–N voltage before service. The unit is reinforced for international transport.
