The FANUC A20B-2902-0196 is a plug-in PMC memory module that provides 2MB of application DRAM. It is designed for compatible legacy FANUC CNC option-board configurations requiring additional working memory for the PMC application environment.

FANUC maintenance documentation identifies this exact model as DRAM (APPLICATION): 2MB. Unlike several other A20B-2902-019x modules, the -0196 configuration does not include a separate management-software expansion RAM allocation.

0196 and 0191 Model Difference

Both the A20B-2902-0196 and A20B-2902-0191 provide 2MB of application DRAM. However, the -0191 also includes 512KB of management expansion RAM, while the -0196 is the application-only 2MB configuration.

The A20B-2902-0197 and -0198 provide smaller application-DRAM capacities. Similar module shape or connector format does not make these memory configurations interchangeable.

Compatibility and Host-Board Check

Before ordering, verify the complete A20B-2902-0196 number, printed revision, host option-board number, PMC type and original socket position. FANUC Series 16/18-family controls were supplied in multiple hardware configurations, so the CNC series name alone is not sufficient.

Remove control power before replacement and use appropriate ESD protection. Back up available CNC and PMC data before opening or servicing the control, then follow the maintenance procedure for the installed system.
