βiA1000 Feedback Function

The A860-2070-T321 FANUC encoder forms part of the closed-loop servo system. It provides motor-position and rotational feedback so the servo amplifier and CNC can control axis movement according to the machine command.

As an absolute pulse coder, it supports retention of the machine’s absolute-position relationship when the complete servo system, backup battery, parameters and machine reference settings are correctly maintained. Replacing the encoder does not by itself restore lost absolute-position data; reference-position recovery or machine-builder procedures may still be required.

Documented Motor Application

FANUC maintenance documentation lists A860-2070-T321 as the βiA1000 maintenance pulse coder for specified βiS-B and βiF-B servo motors in the A06B-2xxx motor-number structure.

Compatibility must be confirmed from the complete servo-motor nameplate. The motor model, shaft and brake specification, pulse-coder designation, environmental specification, connector arrangement and control configuration must all match.

The similar appearance of another FANUC pulse coder does not confirm interchangeability. In particular, A860-2070-T371, A860-2020-T321, A860-2000-T321 and other A860 encoders should not be presented as direct replacements unless the applicable FANUC documentation or motor nameplate confirms the substitution.

Replacement and Diagnosis

The A860-2070-T321 may be considered when diagnosis confirms defective pulse-coder feedback, communication instability, physical encoder damage or contamination. Before replacing it, inspect:

  • Complete encoder and motor part numbers
  • Encoder cable and connector condition
  • Servo-amplifier feedback connection
  • Backup-battery condition
  • CNC servo parameters and absolute-position settings
  • Mechanical coupling and mounting condition
  • Existing servo, pulse-coder or APC-related alarms

An encoder-related alarm can also be caused by a damaged feedback cable, poor connector contact, an incorrect motor parameter, battery failure or a servo-amplifier problem. Diagnosis should be completed before hardware replacement.
