Method 1: Backup via CF Card or USB
Applicable systems: Newer FANUC systems, like 0i-TD, 0i-MD, 0i-TF, 0i-MF, 0i-TF-PLUS, 0i-MF-PLUS, 30I-B, 30I-B PLUS, 31I-B5, 31I-B5 PLUS, 31I-B, 31I-B PLUS, 32I-B, 32I-B PLUS, 35I-B, etc.
Steps:
- Prepare a CF card or USB storage device and insert it into the corresponding slot on the CNC controller (usually on the side).
- Power on and enter the BOOT screen (usually press the two right-side buttons at startup to enter BOOT).
- In the BOOT screen, press [DOWN] to move to [SRAM DATA UTILITY] (Parameter Backup).
- Choose SRAM BACKUP (CNC to MEMORY CARD).
- When the message “SRAM BACKUP COMPLETE” appears, the parameter backup is successful.
Method 2: Backup via RS-232 Serial Connection to PC
Applicable systems: Older systems or systems without card slots like: 0-A series
Steps:
- Prepare an RS-232 serial cable and a PC.
- Install DNC transfer software on the PC and configure the correct COM port and transfer parameters (baud rate, data bits, stop bits, etc.).
- Machine side setup:
- Enter MDI mode and set Parameter Write Enable (PWE) to 1.
- Press the SYSTEM key and navigate to the PARAM or PMC interface.
- Press the right arrow to locate PUNCH or OUTPUT and execute the output command.
- PC side receiving:
- Select receive mode in the DNC software and start receiving.
- After executing the output on the machine, the PC will receive and save the parameter file.
Method 3: Manual Recording of Parameters
When to use:
For parameters that cannot be backed up electronically, this is a primitive but reliable method.
Steps:
- Navigate to SYSTEM → PARAM or PMC → PMCPRM, and manually record all parameters page by page.
- Pay attention to details: record all critical data including PMC parameters, pitch compensation, and variables.
- Verify the recorded parameters to avoid mistakes.
Important Tips
-
Backup All Data:
In addition to CNC parameters, back up PMC programs, macro variables, tool offsets, and other important data.
